Who We Are

The Orchard Tea Room is located in the Rose Hip Barn, a vintage emporium in the historic village of Thornton.
A unique venue combining the charm of our antique barn, enchanting orchard patio & grounds. Built in 1906, our historic building received awards for its renovation by owner April Margera & makes an excellent venue for your special event.

EVENT PRICING
Rental of Orchard Tea Room & Orchard Area
Basic rental of the space for a wedding or special event when customer is providing all services & catering.
Basic Event Rental:  Stored Closed: $500    With Store Open $650.00

Please remember that we are not a traditional restaurant.   This unique and charming space is perfect for a catered event and is part of a vintage/antique shop.  There is no kitchen or additional storage for supplies.  All food is prepared off-site and the china is rented.

Includes 1 Server to supervise and assist with set up, serving, and clean up.  If traditional 3-tiered service  or individual pots of tea is requested, second server will be needed.  $100.00

— Catered Afternoon Tea —
Our English Afternoon Tea includes tea sandwiches, scone with Devon Cream & preserve, 3 pastries, 3 types hot tea.  You can also incude iced tea or lemonade, water. Menu chosen by host.  We can provide all the food and rentals priced below; the host can provide all the food, china, linens, and serve ware; or shared as host requests.

Sandwiches –   Prepared trays have 4 different kinds of sandwiches, 32 total each tray – $56.00 per tray

Scones – 2” scone with Chantilly Cream and jam or lemon curd – $4.50 each

Pastries – 3 mini pastries – $8.00

Tea with milk, sugar, sugar substitutes,  honey, and lemon – $3.50 per guest.  Individual teapot $1.50/guest

Ice tea or lemonade or water – $3.50 per guest and includes beverage server, ice,  disposable cups, and beverage napkins

  • Tea & chocolate or cheese pairings;  mini classes and tea tastings; and bespoke tea presentations that will engage and immerse your guests in the tea experience can be added very easily.  How about a custom blended tea for the guest of honor and as favors for your guests?  Speak to Karen for details that will be perfect for your celebration.

The Tea Room is a relaxed, intimate space ideal for around 15-20 guests.

What makes the afternoon tea event we plan with you so memorable for your guests?

Victorian (1850-1880) Silver tea service, sugar tongs, lemon fork, needed silver trays, Victorian cake baskets for food presentation.
Vintage lace tablecloths for bar.  $140.00

Vintage china, cutlery, goblets by Posh Vintage Rentals   15 guest minimum

Luncheon plate, salad plate, tea cup & saucer, dessert fork, butter knife, teaspoon, water goblet

$14.50 per guest

For individual table afternoon tea service – 3-tiered vintage plate servers – $11.00 each

Floral Centerpieces for each table: Created just for your event by April Margera & Donna Wetterlund in colors and flowers of your choice presented in a variety of tea tins, vintage vases, teacups. Yours to keep — $25 for each arrangement.

Set-up, serving & clean-up included in basic rental. If additional help is needed : Server $20 per hour, 5 hour minimum

Customized Pillow: Owner April Margera designs and makes a pillow for guest(s) of honor $45.00.  Sofa Pit sofa, pillows and chairs set up in the orchard for your guests. $200

Plus 6% PA tax on all items.  Gratuity is not included.  Not required but appreciated.
