“What is your favorite tea?” This is my most asked question in the tea room when I am talking to customers.  I thought of this while reading an article posted today in The Daily Tea by Lettie Stratton, A Cup of Tea for Every Time of Day.

The tea we had growing up was black tea with milk. For most of my life, that was my go-to tea and my comfort cup, that I would reach for from morning to night.

Although what I steep to enjoy has greatly expanded (and having adopted a vegan lifestyle means no more milk) I have to admit, a good black tea is still what I reach for. The difference is, now it’s loose tea and a variety of black teas, depending on my mood. It may be determined by a new tea I just got in and I will drink that exclusively for a week or so.  I love a Darjeeling or Assam in the morning.  And then, I get a craving for a fruity Keemun.  Or Ceylon, Malawi or Kenyan later in the day.   Or Lapsang Souchong or Masala Chai in the cooler months.

A good oolong is magical, with its complex layers of aromas and flavors.  Very relaxing.  I am lucky that I have no issues with caffeine and can enjoy a big mug of tea just before retiring for the evening.

Lettie Stratton’s post reminds us of the many choices we have and how to incorporate them in our daily lives. Try something new, something that pushes you out of what you usual reach for.  It may become your new favorite.
