Maybe it’s from reading too many old British murder mysteries supported by multiple viewings of Downton Abbey, my idea of absolute luxury is having my tea in bed after I wake up.  The first cup of tea in the morning is always deeply satisfying,  but there is something wonderfully indulgent, sitting against several pillows, tucked up with blankets with tea cup (not mug) warming in hands.

No, there is no Mr. Carson on the payroll, but I do have a great husband who is an early riser.  He understands this fancy of mine and indulges me.  The night before I prepare a teapot for each of us, a tray with cup and saucer for me and a filled kettle.

First choice for morning tea is usually Darjeeling, a favorite of mine.     With no need to rush, I have my Ipad and can catch up with emails, enjoying my morning tea until the pot is empty.

Taking time to enjoy the moment, the luxury of just drinking a good cup of tea, alone or shared is a goal.  It can be hard to attain during a busy day.    By creating the moment as the day begins, I know at least the first cups aren’t rushed.
