As the owner of Greenhalgh Tea, I am always on the lookout for high quality teas and tea ware from companies and tea estates with proven records of good growing practices, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. Nepal Tea LLC is one of these companies. Many of my customers have already fallen in love with Kathmandu Cosmos, Kanchanjangha Noir and White Prakash. What do they love most? Delicious teas, organically grown and Kanchanjangha Tea Estate’s commitment to their farmers and families are the top responses.

Kathmandu Cosmos

Several customers met Nishchal Banskota, Founder, Nepal Tea, LLC, when he visited the Orchard Tea Room last February to talk about his Kickstarter program to help expand the organic, farmer-first model to other tea estates in Nepal. Nishchal poured samples of tea while sharing his story; his pursuit for premium tea and the lives we can all change together.

I was not surprised then, when Forbes Magazine published an article March 27, 2018, “Nepal Tea Offers Opportunity to Become a Tea Farmer” by Magy Karydes. Nishchal loves sharing his passion about tea and Nepal and it seems a natural next step that he would want to “re-define tourism to be a more immersive experience though tea…”

As Nishchal prepared the teas before we opened, he told me about how he started inviting university friends during school breaks to his family’s tea estate. His enthusiasm to share this experience of living the life of a tea farmer has expanded beyond school friends and has grown into a yearly journey with new friends and tea professionals. On a visit to The Cozy Tea Cart in Brookline, NH, I met owner & STI certified Tea Specialist, Danielle Beaudette, who told me about her trip to Kanchanjangha Tea Estate. Picking tea was hard work and the visiting group was only able to pick tea for a few hours under a hot sun. Then there was the long, hot walk back to the estate’s tea processing factory, basket of tea leaves hanging from a strap on their heads. She told me that the experience was amazing, Nepal was breathtaking, and the hospitality gracious and generous.

A way and life of tea in Nepal to put a fragrant, delicious cup of tea in your hand. Making a difference to others, with every cup.
